The Russian Air Force has received new fighters for the first time in at least a decade. As MiG CEO Mikhail Pogosyan said yesterday at the Aero India 2009 air show, his company has already handed over to the military 12 MiG-29SMT fighters. The contract for the delivery of 28 MiG-29SMTs to the country’s Air Force was signed in December 2008 while these fighters were initially assembled for Algeria, but later rejected by the customer in 2007-2008.
