ATLANTA -- The man that caused a scare at Dobbins Air Force Base Wednesday evening will be charged. The man who police describe as a transient from Indiana is 29-year-old Rick Wireman. Wireman drove to a guard shack at the Cobb Parkway gate to Dobbins Wednesday night and led guards to believe there was something dangerous in his car.
Traffic was shut down for over 6 hours while police and the Department of Defense sent a bomb robot to investigate the car. The vehicle went up in flames after military personnel set off explosions to destroy the package. The package was described as a propane tank with wires attached to it.
Wireman is being charged with transmitting false public alarm, making a terroristic threat, and being in possession of a hoax device.
