Texas Gov. Rick Perry issued a disaster declaration Wednesday for the entire state, as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed 16 cases of swine flu in the state.
Additionally, Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston confirmed Wednesday that a toddler from Mexico City died of swine flu, the first confirmed death in the U.S. from the disease.
Perry also said the CDC has approved his request for additional courses of antiviral medication. He said Texas has 850,000 more courses coming; the state already has 840,000.
